LINKS PROCESSING

The Links screen is provided to help you determine what other content has links to and from your documents.

• Note that Links *FROM* a particular document are only processed and shown for those documents whose Mime Type has the Process Links option enabled (see Add Mime Types ).

When Links is selected from the Properties screen for published content or from a request associated with the content, WSD performs Links processing for the Mime Type assigned to the content. The list identifies links TO/FROM content of this Mime Type as part of the properties associated with the type of content.

This screen displays the following information:

• A list of all links in this document that point at content on this site or other sites (Links FROM this document).
• A list of documents on this site that point TO this document (Links TO this document).

The following information displays for each item in the lists:

• Link Type - For example a/href or img/src
• Link Path and Filename - For WSD documents, the Working Directory is not included in the pathname, unless the URL is an absolute link cointaining the hostname portion in the URL.
• Current Disposition of the Document
  • For published documents or links to external URLs the only message that may display is an error message if the external URL cannot be located
  • For documents that are being worked on (submitted as a Request), the name of the current stage displays.
• Links "FROM this document" Location in Document Source - For the list of links FROM this document, WSD will provide the following information for users who want to locate a specific link withing the documents HTML source code:
  • Row/Column Location - Numeric values identifying the Row (line number) and Column where the link is located Note: For large documents, users should display the source in an editor that supports numbering lines.
  • Location segment type within page - A short descriptor identifying the segment type (i.e. header, footer, include, etc.) within the document where the link is located
  • Segment Type Identity or location  - the URL identifying the segment location used by WSD to include the link on this page.
