HOW TO APPROVE A REQUEST

Before a request can be published to your public web site, it must be reviewed and approved in each workflow stage through which it must pass before being published. This document will guide you through the steps required to approve a request into the next or another workflow stage. The illustrations show screen images that use the Explorer/Java interface.

How to Approve a Request
  1. Log on to WebSite Director (WSD) using your WSD User Name and Password. The Application Desktop displays a list of workflow stages that you are allowed to view and/or work with. The Application Desktop displays three selection bars - Menu Bar, Menu Tool Bar and Function Tool Bar – that provide access to WSD functions. 
  2. List the workflow stages by clicking the [+] to the left of “Requests in Workflow”; then click the name of the stage that contains the request that you wish to approve.
  3. Highlight the name of the request to be approved and click  on the toolbar. The Approving screen displays a dropdown list -- "Select Next Stage".
  4. Select the stage to which the request is to be approved from the dropdown list.
  5. Type your comments in the Your New Comments. If you have "Edit Previous Comments" permission, you may add your comments directly to those displayed. If the Append Name and Date to Comments checkbox is present, make sure it is checked if you want your name and the date appended to your comments.
  6. Click APPROVE.  WSD displays the "Request Approval Complete" confirmation screen.
  7. Click OK to return to the Application Desktop.
How to Change the Approval Path

If you have "Modify Approvals Needed" permission (set by the User Administrator), you may change the approval path for a request as follows:
  1. List the workflow stages by clicking the [+] to the left of “Requests in Workflow”; then click on the stage that contains the requests that you wish to approve.
  2. Highlight the name of the request to be approved and click  on the toolbar. The Edit Request screen displays.
  3. Click  to display the request’s Properties screen.
  4. Click  to display the Approvals Needed screen. The check-marked stages and groups are those currently assigned to the Request. The stages and groups in Bold Blue type are either the default approval stages for the System (if "None" displays in the Approval Class box) or the default stages/groups for the Approval Class. 
  5. Select or de-select the stages in the Approvals Needed list and click to return to the Properties screen.
