HOW TO BEGIN WORKING WITH WEBSITE DIRECTOR

The first screen that you will see when you log on to WebSite Director (WSD) is the Application Desktop. Depending on the default user interface selected for your site, you may have either icons or buttons that allow you to select certain functions.

These functions allow you to either perform a function on the Application Desktop, or access another screen where you can perform the selected function. The Application Desktop also displays workflow stages assigned to your site and for which you have permission to view and/or perform content management functions.

The functions and workflow stages you see depend on your permissions (assigned to you by your User Administrator). Each WSD screen has access to a help screen that provides instructions for the screen's functions. Just click the Help button or icon at the top of the screen to access these instructions.

To begin using WSD, complete the following steps:

Step 1.    Contact your System and/or User Administrator to determine your WSD permissions, your User Name and Password, and the URL for your WSD system.

Step 2.    Log on to WebSite Director using the URL for your WSD system.

a. Type the URL in the address field on your browser. WSD presents a Username/Password window.

b. Type the User Name and Password provided by your Administrator and click OK. WSD displays the Application Desktop screen. The format of the Application Desktop – Browser or Explorer/Java – depends on the default User Interface selected for your site.
Step 3.    Go to your User Preferences screen and download the WYSIWYG editor. See the How to Download the WYSIWYG Editor for instructions.
