INTRODUCTION

WebSite Director (WSD) allows users with System Administration permission to create and maintain all directories under the WSD parent directory (Document Root). During installation, WSD creates a "/wsd-support" directory directly under the Document Root directory (this name may be changed by the installer during the installation process). The support directory contains image files, help pages used in WSD screens, and tutorials, and should not contain any files other than WSD support files. We recommend making /wsd-support a Private Directory to prevent unauthorized access to the WSD support files by unauthorized users.

Default Directory Properties

The Create Directory and Directory Properties screens allow authorized users to add and update the following default directory properties:

Current Directory This field displays the name of the directory you selected on Maintain Web Site. This will become the parent directory for the directory you are creating.
New Directory Name Type the name of the new Directory.
Section Label Type the label to be used by the <$dirsection> template variable. See Template Variables..
Description Type a description of the type of content that will be stored in this directory. This description can be up to 255 characters in length, and will be used by the <$dirdesc> template variable. See Template Variables.
Default Approval Class (WSD Pro only) If you do not want to use the system default "Approval Class" (see System Configuration) for requests associated with content in this directory, you may select a specific Approval Class that will be assigned to the new directory. "None" uses the system default, and is the default selection. For more information about approval classes, see Maintain Approval Classes.
Edit Online Images Directory

Images located in the directory or directories listed here will be made available for selection using the WYSIWYG editor to insert an image when working with requests associated with content in this directory. You must use a comma "," as a separator when typing in the names of multiple image directories.

If you leave this field blank, WSD will use the Default Edit Online Image Directory specified on the System Configuration screen.

Images Upload Directory The directory path entered here (only one allowed) is used for creating lists of images uploaded from your local computer during online WYSIWYG editor sessions. WSD looks first in Directory Properties to see if an Image Upload Directory has been designated. If none found there or in the System Configuration when you attempt to upload an image, an error message displays.
Directory Index Template This field will display if you turned on Directory Indexing for your installation of WSD (see System Policies). If you will be indexing the new directory, select the template to be used to format the index from the drop-down list of available templates. For more information, see the Directory Indexing Tutorial.
Flags

Select the applicable check boxes for this new directory:

  • Private Directory - Directories marked as "Private" (including all documents within these directories) can only be viewed from the Maintain Web Site screen. Private Directories are not visible in any other part of the WSD system. No requests can be submitted into a Private directory via WSD.
  • Maintain Index for this Directory - This selection will only be displayed if Directory Indexing has been turned on for your site via the System Policies screen.
  • Subdirectories inherit properties - This selection will cause subdirectories of this directory to inherit the properties of this directory.
  • Do not inherit parent properties - When selected, this directory will not inherit the properties of the parent directory if the "Subdirectories inherit properties" is set for the Parent Directory.
  • Page Layout Template required - When selected, content added to this directory must use a Page Layout Template. This requirements may be overridden for individual users on their User Permissions screen, or for all new users on the Default User Permissions screen
  • Skip Orphan Document Check - When selected, WSD will not generate "Delete Requests" for orphaned documents published in this directory during the automated "Orphan Check" process in the "Cleanup Database" module when the "Auto Submit Delete for Orphaned Doc" option has been set to "Yes" on the System Policies screen.
