Manage your website in different ways
Live submit/update
WebSite Director's Live Submit interface helps inexperienced content contributors to add and modify and approve content while navigating the site. Layout template fields can be accessed directly from the live submit interface, without having to edit the complete web page.
File explorer interface
More experienced users can access the file system through the web based explorer interface.
Desktop integration
Maintain content from your favorite desktop application, like Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe Golive, Microsoft Office, Microsoft webfolders, WebDrive, or any other WebDAV enabled clients.
Custom entry points
WebSite Director consists of modules. Each module can be called and integrated directly from your custom systems or by using the External API.
Layout templates
Control the look and feel of your web site
WebSite Director supports a template language which allows template developers to separate the content from the design, generate content and customize data entry processes allowing inexperienced users to create content.
Re-use content
WSD templates can include other documents, or specific properties (meta data) and field values from other documents. This is one of the many possibilities with the WebSite Director Template Language.
Browser based wysiwyg editors
Several word-like online wysiwyg editors are supported and allow inexperienced content contributors to create content. In templates the editor can be assigned to only a specific part of the page.
Retrieve previous versions
RCS Versioning
Store previously published content for quick retrieval and/or reversion. WebSite Director retains the Version History for published content (documents and templates) in RCS (Revision Control System) formatted version files and database records.
Audit trail
View the complete approval history and comments of a previously published document, including the document properties when the document was published at the time.
Multiple content workflow approvals
WebSite Director allows you to match your existing or proposed policies and procedures by providing a large range of options for creating and customizing your workflow. When you set up your workflow, you will be working with Groups, Stages, and Approval Classes in a specific order.
No programming required
The workflow administration can be done through the browser based user interface. No technical skills are required.
Approval Classes
Approval Classes define a series of specific steps that a content management request will follow from the time it is submitted into the workflow process until it is approved and published to your public web site or staging server. Each step references a workflow stage or, for Group Stages, one or more associated groups. Approval classes can be assigned to specific area's of the site, used by default for specific users, or manually selected and defined while working on the content.
A CMS That Handled 21 Million Hits in One Day!
Volvo Ocean Race 2001-2002 Web Site
The four-member team installed WebSite Director on 14 May 2001. The new Volvo Ocean Race website containing 2800 files (600 html) in 300+ directories, was completed and re-launched on 1 August 2001. All CMS configuration was done by one person, with unlimited online support from CyberTeams. Data entry was accomplished by two people: the site's producer and the project manager!
On start day, 23 September 2001, the system handled 900,000 page views from 57,000 unique visitors. The only technical problem on start day was with the BBC Real Audio feed of the race start. It went down because, apparently, the load crashed the BBC server, although it did not affect WebSite Director.
Through all of this, WebSite Director remained steady.

Integrate WebSite Director in your existing site!
WebSite Director can be installed through a web browser. Free support from a CyberTeams specialist is included. No programming is required and you can start using WebSite Director immediately in your existing web site. There are no additional buy-in costs.
External API
WebSite Director (WSD) is designed to run exclusively on a web server. Most of the user activity takes place through a web browser that is connected to WSD through the web server using the HTTP protocol. In some circumstances there is a need to interface directly between WSD and another application. To support such an interface, WSD includes an external interface capability that allows much of the functionality of WSD to be controlled by an external application.
External Event Filter
In addition to being called by external applications using the External Interface Specification , WSD can be configured to call external applications at specified times using the External Event Filter. Custom filter applications can be called by WSD as follows:
- At specific times during the submission, approval, and publishing of update requests within WSD.
- To customize the list of requests displayed for each workflow stage.
- During user administration processing to manage an external authentication database.
Membership protected area's and other services
Team Director

Customized modules
Beyond the core functionality of the product, each implementation of Team Director can been customized in varying degrees to meet the requirements of the specific customer. Team Director can be easily integrated with a variety of external third-party systems with very little customization needed.
