DEFAULT USER PERMISSIONS

This screen allows you to set the default user permissions that will be assigned to NEW WSD users (added via the Add New User function under User Administration). These permissions may be changed by individual users on their Edit User Info screen, or by User Administrators on the Edit User Info screen accessed from User Administration.

INFORMATION ON THIS SCREEN:
Working Directory  When present, must contain a valid directory name within the web server's Document Root. Users will be limited to submitting requests for content located in the specified directory and those directories defined under the specified directory. Note: Users will not be able to see, browse, or access any other directories within the Document Root.

Permissions

The following are system permissions that may be assigned to each new user:

  • User Administration - Users may add new users, delete existing users, change users' passwords and preferences, edit users' information, including Permissions, and change the Default User Preferences.
  • Write Access - Users may update content on the server.  Without this permission, Users may only View content.
  • Access Control - Users may update User Permissions in Directory Properties, and access directories marked Private.
  • Template Administration - Users may change Templates via the Maintain Templates screens.
  • System Administration - Users may change the system configuration values,  and maintain directories. Note: Because the improper use of this permission can severely damage your WSD installation, only a few trusted and knowledgeable users should be given this permission.
