DEFAULT USER PREFERENCES

This screen allows you to set the default user preferences that will be assigned to all new users being added to WSD. These preferences may be changed for individual users by a User Administrator, or individual users may change their own preferences on their User Preferences screen. Note: The options displayed on this screen are controlled by different combinations of other settings that are in effect at the time the screen is displayed. These dependencies are descibed by various "Note:" descriptions (below) . You may have to click "Save Preferences" and return to "User Preferences" before certain options are displayed.

INFORMATION ON THIS SCREEN:

User Interface

Masthead

Select the type of masthead that will be used on WSD screens:

  • Masthead=Browser:  table-driven User Interface using buttons instead of icons and menus. Requires "Menus=None" and Navigation=Browser.
  • Masthead=Explorer: icon-driven User Interface. Uses "large" icons when Navigation=Browser, and small icons when Navigation=Explorer AND Menus=Java.
Menus

Select whether there will be a Menu Bar and Tool Bar with the  Explorer masthead:

  • Menu=None:  Large function icons for functions accessible from Application Desktop screen are displayed when Masthead=Browser. 
  • Menu=Java:   Small function icons for the Menu functions and drop-down selection menus display under the masthead when Masthead = Explorer. Note: Unless Navigation=Explorer, the browser-based navigation functions are accessed using buttons located next to the navigation table.
Navigation

Select the type of navigation display that will be used on WSD screens:

  • Navigation=Browser: Table-driven navigation using buttons for navigation.
  • Navigation=Explorer:  Ion-driven navigation using Java Applets and small icons for all functions. Requires Explorer=Masthead AND Menus=Java.
Buttons on Select the location of the function buttons on WSD processing screens: Left Side or Right Side.
Background Color Assign the background color for the tables on the WSD processing screens -- either grey or blue. Note: this option is present only when Menu = None.
Background Fill Select the background fill for the tables on the WSD processing screens: Stripe or Block. Note: If you use the Explorer masthead (see above) you must use the Block Background Fill.
Windows Select  Single or Multiple pop-up windows on WSD processing screens. Note: View, Preview, About, Tutorial, and Help windows will always be displayed in a new (pop-up) window.
Show Select the Menu Bar, the Tool Bar, or both to display on WSD processing screens. Note: These selection bars are only displayed when Menu=Java (see above). You may also Hide  or Show  the Menu Bar and Tool Bar by selecting the applicable icon on the left side each bar.
Screen Colors

Select colors for the following components of your WSD screens: Masthead Background, Menu/Toolbar Background, Field Background, Error Windows and Screen Background. Note: Only available for Explorer Masthead with Menu= Java.

To select your preferred colors for these components, click the applicable heading and select the color from the "Select ... Color" window that displays.

WYSIWYG Editor

Edit Online Default Select WYSIWYG Editor or HTML Text Editor as the default editor for creating and editing online.
EditLive! Image List Select whether WSD is to use Links or Inline images with EditLive!.
  • Links - Displays a list of links for images in the directory specified in System Configuration. You may also navigate to a specific web location and capture images. 
  • Inline - Displays a list of  images in the directory specified in System Configuration. You may also navigate to a specific web location and capture images.
Editor

This selection only displays if your site owner has licensed the WYSIWYG editors and the WYSIWYG server drivers have been downloaded and installed from the WSD download area. If your site has licensed the WYSIWYG editor, your users must download it to your local computer before they begin using WSD create or manage content. There are have two choices of editors:

  • EditLive! – the WSD default WYSIWYG editor.
  • eWebEditPro – you must contact Ektron at http://www.ektron.com to arrange for a eWebEditPro license.

Note : If users do not install the editor, WSD will download/install EditLive! automatically the first time they attempt to create/edit a request.   

EDITLIVE! Filter Options

This section allows you to set options that allow users to cleanup and format the output from the editor, based on the filter options that you set. Note: The selections below are only valid if the EditLive! WYSIWYG editor is installed .

Filtering
radio buttons

Select ON or OFF for EditLive! filtering. Note: Filtering must be ON for the remaining options to be performed.

Convert Font Styles
checkbox

Check to specify that presentation tags (e.g. font, bold, italic, underline) in the HTML source code are to be converted to style rules when the EditLive! contents are retrieved.  Only available when Filtering is set to On.

Indent Tags
checkbox

Check to specify that relevant tags in the HTML source code should be indented to make the code more readable when the EditLive! contents are retrieved.  Only available when Filtering is set to On.

Format Source
checkbox

Check to specify that the HTML source code is to be rendered into a more readable format when the EditLive! contents are retrieved.  Only available when Filtering is set to On.

Remove Optional Tags
checkbox

Check to specify that extraneous tags should be removed from the HTML source code when the EditLive! content is retrieved.  Only available when Filtering is set to On.

XHTML Compliant
checkbox

Check to specify that the HTML source code is to be output as XHTML when the EditLive! contents are retrieved.  Only available when Filtering is set to On.

XML Compliant
checkbox

Check to specify that the HTML source code is output as XML when the EditLive! contents are retrieved.  Only available when Filtering is set to On.

Format Attribute Case
radio buttons

Select Upper or Lower case for attribute names (e.g. color, border, name) in the HTML source code when the EditLive! contents are retrieved.  Only available when Filtering is set to On.

Format Tag Case
radio buttons

Select Upper or Lower case for tag names, such as BODY and FONT, when the EditLive! contents are retrieved.  Only available when Filtering is set to On.

Wrap Line Length

Type the line length to be used to wrap the HTML source code when the EditLive! contents are retrieved; type 0 (zero) for no wrap.  Only available when Filtering is set to On.

Translate Special Characters
radio buttons

Select whether special characters inserted into EditLive! are to be translated to HTML notation in the HTML source code when the EditLive! contents are retrieved.  Only available when Filtering is set to On. Possible values:
  • ASCII Normal - Will not transform any characters with an ASCII value of greater than 127 to character entities.
  • ASCII Extended -  Will transform all characters with an ASCII value of greater than 127 to character entities.
  • Latin Extended -  Will transform all characters with an ASCII value of greater than 255 to character entities.  It will not transform characters with an ASCII value of between 127 and 255.
  • All - Will transform all characters with an ASCII value greater than 127 to character entities as well as quote marks, ampersands and extra spaces.

WSD View/Preview Options

Documents List Number of Rows Specify the number of rows in the Document list.
Edit Online Number of Rows Specify the number of rows in the text editor window.
Edit Online Number of Columns Specify the number of columns in the text editor window.
Screen Width (in pixels) Specify the width of the WSD screen in pixels. Note: If your site uses long directory and/or filenames, this width needs to be set to the maximum width to minimize filename truncation.
View/Preview Window Options checkboxes Select or de-select  the following options: Show Toolbar, Show Location, Show Directory Buttons, Show Status Bar, Show Menu Bar. Note: We recommend you use fewer options in the preview window than you do in your normal browser wondow so you can tell the difference between a preview and regular browser window. This will help minimize risk of accidentally closing the wrong window and losing information.

FUNCTIONS:
SAVE PREFERENCES Save the changes made on this screen and return to the Application Desktop or workflow stage screen from which you accessed this screen. Your new preferences will take effect immediately.
CANCEL Cancel any changes made on this screen, and return to the Application Desktop or workflow stage screen from which you access this screen.
