EDIT REQUEST - DOCUMENT

This screen allows you to edit the content associated with the request selected on the previous workflow-stage screen. 

INFORMATION ON THIS SCREEN:
Request

The Request Type (ADD, MODIFY, COPY, MOVE, RENAME, DELETE, EMAIL OR UNKNOWN) displays preceding one of the following:

  • the path and filename of the content,
  • if the Request Type is EMAIL,
    • the Subject of the e-mail, or
    • a blank if there is no Subject.

If the Request Type is EMAIL or UNKNOWN, it must be changed to one of the other Request Types before the request can be published or approved to a workflow stage that requires a valid Request Type (ADD, MODIFY, DELETE, COPY, MOVE, or RENAME). 

Document

The Request Category of Document displays the path and filename of the content unless the Request Type is EMAIL. Then, one the following may display:

  • If the E-mail submission includes an attachments, this field displays the filename of the attachment.
  • If the E-mail submission did not include an attachment, this field will be blank.
  • If the E-mail submission included an attachment with an .html extension, "<000#>.txt" displays. This filename can be changed on the Request's Propeties screen.
Title The value of the title property associated with the content. WSD uses this information in reports and notification messages when the <$title> variable is specified. It may also be used in META tags and all types of WSD templates. 
Author The name and E-mail address of the author. The information in the Author field is referenced by the <$author> template variable.
Maintainer The name and E-mail address of the maintainer. The information in the Maintainer field is referenced by the <$maintainer> template variable.
Leave Request Locked When this checkbox is selected, the request will remain locked after you leave this screen. WSD automatically checks this checkbox after you use the Download function, and automatically unchecks this checkbox after you use the Upload function.
Note: If  the checkbox is selected and you do not want the Request to remain Locked after you leave, you must manually deselected this option before you click the Return button.

FUNCTIONS:
UPLOAD
1. To Upload content from your local computer, type the path and name of the file on your local computer into the Local Filename data entry field located to the left of the Browse button.  Instead of typing the file name, you may click the Browse button to select the file.
2. Click UPLOAD to upload the file. After the file has uploaded, the "Document Upload Complete" screen confirms the upload.
3. Click Ok on the confirmation screen to return to this screen. WSD will automatically uncheck the "Leave Request Locked" checkbox.
  • If your site uses the Wp2HTML add-on software, and the uploaded document is a Microsoft Word or WordPerfect document (.doc extension), the Convert Word Document to HTML or Convert WordPerfect Document to HTML checkbox displays. Select this checkbox if you want to convert the .doc file to HTML.
VIEW REQUEST Select this function to display the request's content in a browser window. The display will include any assigned header and footer templates.

Compare with Published

Select the "Compare with Published" checkbox before you select VIEW REQUEST to view the published and current views of the content in a split browser window. The Windows title displays the location of each of the views. The published version is on the left or bottom window, depending on your method of viewing (Horizontal or Vertical) as set on the User Preferences screen. This function will be available if the request is to Modify existing content.
PROPERTIES Select this function to display the Properties screen for the request.
COMMENTS Select this function to display the request's  Comments window. You can review previously-entered comments about the request, and enter your own.
EDIT ONLINE

Select this function if you wish to edit the request's content online. Note: You may see two radio buttons labeled WYSIWYG and Text, based on your user permissions.

1 Select the method for editing your document: WYSIWYG or TEXT WYSIWYG - Create your content online using the WYSIWYG editor selected on the the User Preferences screen. Note: This selection only displays if your site owner has licensed the WYSIWYG editors and the WYSIWYG server drivers have been downloaded and installed from the WSD download area.  If the message "No WYSIWYG editor is installed" displays,contact your System Administrator.

TEXT - Create your HTML content online using a browser editor. Note that due to browser constraints, documents may not exceed 32k bytes.

Click EDIT ONLINE. WSD displays the applicable window so you can create/edit your content online. When you finish, click UPDATE AND RETURN to save the information and return to this screen. 

DOWNLOAD Select this function to download the content to your local computer. Your browser will prompt you for the information required to download. Note: WSD will automatically set "Leave Request Locked" checkbox to "locked" when you use the Download function. You must manually uncheck the box if you want the request to be available to other users who have access to this workflow stage.
UNDO CHANGES Select this function to discard all data added/uploaded during this editing session, including any changes made via Edit Online (WYSIWYG or Text). WSD displays the "Request Restored from Backup" window. Select OK to return to this screen.
RETURN Select this function to return to the workflow stage screen.
