APPLY TEMPLATE

The WebSite Director (WSD) Apply Template function is used to apply a template to documents and directories that use the selected template, as follows:

• Page Layout Templates: WSD locates and republishes all documents that use the template being applied. If a field has been added to the template, it will appear empty on the published page, or will contain any default data. If a field has been deleted, the old data is thrown away.
• Page Header and Page Footer Templates: WSD locates and republishes all documents that use the template being applied.
• Index Templates: WSD rebuilds all directory Indexes that use the template.

When you use the Apply Template function, an information screen lists the documents or directories that were updated, and lists any documents or directories that could not be updated along with the reason they were not updated, if known.

• When a new or modified document referencing the template is published to the web site.
• When any document request in WSD that references the template is viewed or previewed.

To apply a Template:

1. On the Maintain Templates screen, select the Template Group (Page Header Templates, Page Footer Templates, Page Layout Templates or Index Templates) for the template to be applied, and click Continue
   • The Maintain <template-group> Templates screen displays
2. In the Templates list box, select the template to be applied and click APPLY TEMPLATE.
   • WSD immediately republishes all documents that use the selected Page Header, Page Footer or Page Layout Template, or rebuilds the directory index files that use the Index Template.
