TeamWSD lite
1.0 Delivers A Happy New Year To Internet Service Providers
and Web Hosting Companies
January
25, 1999, Mt. Airy, MD
- CyberTeams®, Inc. today released version 1.0 of TeamWSD lite, its newest
software product designed to provide central control over multiple data
repositories and virtual domains. This revolutionary new product allows
Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and web hosting companies to provide
their users with authenticated access to individual domains and multiple
segments of single domains via their browsers instead of direct server
access using FTP and Telnet.
TeamWSD lite is integrated
with and manages copies of WebSite Director® lite, another CyberTeams'
web content management product, which provides browser-based web content
management. The teaming of these two products allows web site administrators
to define and control access to individual user data repositories that
can encompass an entire domain, or only a segment of a domain. Because
of its simplicity and ease of use in creating and viewing web content,
ISPs and web hosting companies who participated in the Beta Test say that
TeamWSD lite is the perfect tool for providing simple, easy-to-use web
content management services to their users.
Cyndi Webb, owner
of Mom’s Network Exchange, a Minnesota-based Hosting Company says, "I
am very excited about the way TeamWSD lite has reduced my user support
requirements by eliminating the need for my customers to use FTP or Telnet
to submit and manage their web content. They love being able to use their
browsers to create, edit, and publish their web pages. I love being able
to offer TeamWSD lite and the other fine CyberTeams' products to my customers."
TeamWSD lite eliminates
the need for direct server access, thereby providing a higher level of
security and more data privacy to both ISPs and their customers. While
FTP can be configured and customized to provide higher levels of security,
doing so often places constraints on the users managing their content.
TeamWSD lite provides an environment where end users can easily and quickly
manage their web pages.
"Providing a simple
method of managing personal web pages that is easy to use and understand
has finally become a reality for my customers." says Eric Buhr, president
of Fort Wayne Internet (FWI), a large regional ISP in the Midwest. "TeamWSD
lite gives us centralized administrative control and eliminates the need
for FTP, thereby reducing our support requirements. TeamWSD lite allows
our customers to enroll themselves directly from our site and immediately
begin using this exciting product to manage their web pages."
TeamWSD lite and WebSite
Director lite operate on web servers running Microsoft® Windows NT and
many UNIX operating systems. They have been certified for use with most
web servers, including Apache, NCSA, Netscape, O'Reilly WebSite Pro, and
version 3.x and 4.x of Microsoft Internet Information Server.
UNIX support includes BSDI, FreeBSD, HP-UX, Linux, SGI, Solaris, and SunOS.
The commercial release of TeamWSD lite uses the latest release of WebSite
Director lite which includes the core technology for interoperability
with WebDAV clients. And, like all CyberTeams products, TeamWSD lite’s
installation module now provides improved Microsoft® Internet Information
Server (IIS) authentication and proxy login support, new Apache 1.3 server
support, and a choice of several security models for installing TeamWSD
lite in Internet Service Provider (ISP) and other distributed hosting
environments.
Pricing and Availability
TeamWSD lite is licensed on an annual basis at $15.00 per managed user
data repository per year. Pricing discounts are available for members
of the CyberTeams All-Stars reseller program and Internet Service Providers
with large user communities in excess of 10,000 user repositories.
