CREATE REPOSITORY

Accessed from the Application Desktop screen

This screen allows you to create a new TeamWSD User Data Repository. The new Repository will be managed by WebSite Director (WSD). TeamWSD will place the applicable copy of WSD into the Program Directory associated with the newly created Repository. To create the Create Repository process, first complete the information on this screen, as follows:
  1. Type a unique one-word identifier into the Repository ID field. Depending on the default values set on the System Defaults screen, the identifier may be used in creating the Program Directory and URLs to the WSD module that maintains the repository's documents.
    • If the Program Directory does not exist, it will be created.
    • If the Program Directory already exists, TeamWSD will check all existing files in the directory to make sure there are no conflicts with the WSD program files (i.e., duplicate file names). If there are, the new Repository will not be created.
  2. Select the server on which the repository is to reside from the drop-down Repository Server list of your site's servers (see Maintain Servers).
  3. Select the Repository Type from the drown-down list - WSD Pro, WSD, WSD Express or WSD Lite.
  4. Type the Repository Description. This is the descriptive text that displays on TeamWSD screens.
  5. Type the name of the Working Directory for the new Repository.
    • The Working Directory is the root directory under which the WSD directories and documents will be maintained. It is used to construct URLs to access documents in the repository.
    • If the Working Directory does not exist, it will be created.
    • In constructing the URL for a web page maintained within the Repository, the Working Directory name immediately follows the site URL and is in turn followed by the subdirectory(s) and filename of your document. For example,

      Your company's URL is: "http://www.mycompany.com"
(and) your Working Directory is "/myname"
(and) you created a document named "my_page.html" in a subdirectory named "/hobbies"
(then) the complete URL for your web page is: http://www.mycompany.com/myname/hobbies/my_page.html"

Warning: If you do not specify a Working Directory name, the user repository you are creating will have access to all of the documents in the server's Document Root Directory.

    • Assign the Repository User List as either Shared or Private. The default is set on the System Defaults screen.
      • If set as Shared, the user list will be shared by all other Shared Repositories
      • If set as Private, only the "initial user" designated on this screen the repository can initially access the Repository. The initial user will be responsible for managing the user community for this repository. After adding additional users, the initial user may give User Administration privileges to another user who has access to this private repository.

Note: When a TeamWSD user tries to access this repository using the [GO TO REPOSITORY] function on the TeamWSD Main screen, he/she will have to provide a username/password that is valid for the private user list associated with the private repository.

    • If you do not have a virtual host, leave the Virtual Host field blank.
        or
If you have a virtual host, type the Virtual Host (Hostname or IP Address) in this field.
    • Click [CONTINUE]
      • If you did not enter a Virtual Host Hostname or IP Address, the program displays the Configure New Repository screen.
      • If you entered a Virtual Host Hostname or IP Address,
        • TeamWSD searches for the virtual host's configuration information and Document Root directory, and
        • displays the Configure Virtual Host screen.

OR click [CANCEL] to return to the Application Desktop screen without creating the Repository.
