MAINTAIN DIRECTORY INDEX TEMPLATES

Directory indexing allows you to create and maintain an HTML document that contains an index (list/map) of the published content residing in individually selected directories. Directory Indexing must be activated for each Directory on the Create Directory or Directory Properties screen. These screens also allow you to select a template for the index in addition to Page Header and Page Footer Template. • A Version History will not be maintained for any template created via this screen. 
• If you use this screen to modify a template that has a Version History file (created via Submit New Request), the template's Version History will not be updated.

INFORMATION ON THIS SCREEN:

This screen displays a list of existing Index Templates in the Templates list.

FUNCTIONS:

VIEW TEMPLATE	First select a template from the Templates list, then select this function to display the template's HTML source.   To view a Sample of how the template will look when published, first select the "View Sample" checkbox before selecting VIEW TEMPLATE.
ADD NEW TEMPLATE	Select this function to display the Add New Template screen.
EDIT TEMPLATE	First select the template to be edited from the Templates list, then select this function to display the Edit Template screen.
DELETE TEMPLATE	First select the name of the Template you want to delete from the Templates list, then select this function.   The Confirm Delete Template screen displays and allows you to either confirm or cancel the deletion request. To complete the Delete Template function and return to this screen, click DELETE Note: Make sure no indexes are using the template you are planning to delete, because WSD will not be able to create an index for any directory using the deleted template.
APPLY TEMPLATE	To apply a Template, select the template to be applied from the Templates list and click APPLY TEMPLATE. WSD immediately republishes the index pages for all directories that use the selected Template by locating and republishing the index page for each directory that uses the template being applied. An information screen lists the directories that were updated, plus any directories that could not be updated along with the reason, if known. Note: The Apply Template function does not 'Rebuild'  the Index for the directory. See Maintain Web Site .
RETURN	Select this function to return to the Maintain Templates Screen.
