MAINTAIN PAGE LAYOUT TEMPLATES
WebSite Director (WSD) Page Layout Templates allow users with no knowledge of HTML to populate web pages that have a pre-defined format. These templates specify which portions of a document can be created/edited. Published pages will be comprised of the HTML code defined by the template developer, content entered by the user in the specified template areas, and any assigned Page Header and Page Footer Templates.
For more information and links to tutorials that discuss Page Layout Template Statements, Template Variables, and samples that you may use to create your own Page Layout Templates, go to the Page Layout Templates tutorial.

FUNCTIONS: |
VIEW TEMPLATE |
First select a template from the Templates list, then select this function to display the template's HTML source.
Warning: The "View Sample" option may not display the template correctly, because the template does not yet contain data. Pre-assigned header and footer templates, if present in the source, are not applied in this mode. |
ADD NEW TEMPLATE | Select this function to display the Add New Template screen. |
EDIT TEMPLATE | First select the template to be edited from the Templates list, then select this function to display the Edit Template screen. |
First select the name of the Template you want to delete from the Templates list, then select this function.
Warning: Any published content that used the deleted template for layout purposes will retain the template's layout information. The content may be modified and republished using the same layout information. If Template Variables were used in the Page Layout Template, these may be included in the content by checking the "Document contains template commands" checkbox on the Properties screen accessed from the Edit Request screen. | |
To apply a Template, select the template to be applied from the Templates list and click APPLY TEMPLATE. WSDimmediately republishes all documents that use the selected Template by locating and republishing all content that uses the template being applied. An information screen lists the content that was updated, plus any content that could not be updated along with the reason, if known. If you do not immediately Apply a revised Page Header Template, it will be applied to any content using the template under the following conditions:
