LOCKED DOCUMENTS

WebSite Director (WSD) locks a document while it is being edited online. WSD also provides users with the ability to lock a document if they want to download and work on the document offline.

To lock a document, go to the Edit Document screen for the document and click Leave Document Locked . The document will remain locked until the user who locked it, or another user with User Administration permission, unlocks it via the Document Properties screen. If another user attempts to edit the document, the message, "Document is locked by<last name>, <first name> (<userid>)" displays.

Only users with User Administration permissions may unlock a document. To unlock a document, complete the following steps:

  • Go to the Document Properties screen for the locked document.
  • Scroll down to the Locked By field. This field displays the name of the user who is presently working on the document, or the name of the user who locked the document. A drop-down list includes all current WSD users.
  • In the drop-down list, highlight the word "No Lock" or the name of one of the listed users.
  • Click [UPDATE].
Important Note: Care should be taken before unlocking a 'locked' document to make sure it is not currently being worked on by the locking user.
