PENDING REQUESTS

WSD provides each user with a private stage titled My Pending Requests. This stage contains any of this user's requests that have not yet been approved into the workflow. Only the user and the System Administrator have access to the requests in the user's My Pending Requests area. This allows users to create and process requests in private before submitting them into the workflow process.

Individual users can access the requests in their private Pending Requests stage from the WSD Application Desktop. System Administrators may access requests that are currently in all users' Pending Requests stages via the  All Pending Requests  screen accessed from System Administration . Each request in the list (both the user's private list and the All Pending Requests list) is identified by the Request Type (ADD, MODIFY, etc.), and the path and filename associated with the request. Requests in the Pending Requests list are also identified by the user's Username.

Requests may have been placed into a user's My Pending Requests for one of the following reasons:

  • The user clicked "Submit" on the Submit New Request screen when accessed from within that user's My Pending Requests stage .
  • The user clicked "Save" on the Submit New Request screen when accessed from another workflow stage.
  • The system placed the request in this stage due to a system error during submission processing, or the user clicked the browser's back arrow or accidentally closed the browser window instead of clicking on Submit on the Submit New Request screen. These Requests are indicated by "(pending)" following the filename. Requests with "(pending)" will be removed by the Database Cleanup Module unless Approved or Deleted by a System Administrator, or Approved or Disapproved by the owning user, within the number of days specified by the "Temp File Cleanup Age" field on the System Configuration screen.

If you are a user and wish to remove a (pending) request from your My Pending Requests, you may do so in one of the following ways:

  • Approve or Disapprove the request: Go to My Pending Requests and highlight the request in the Current Requests list. Then click APPROVE to Approve the request into a workflow stage, or DISAPPROVE the request into the Trash Bin.
  • Re-submit the request: Click the Submit New Request, navigate to the directory that contains the content, and click one of the functions on the Tool Bar or Menu Bar. WSD will retrieve the 'pending' version of the request, including any changes you have made. You may then  Submit it into the workflow process. Or, you may Save it into your My Pending Requests stage so that it will not be removed by the Cleanup Module.

If you are a System Administrator and wish to remove a Pending request from the All Pending Requests stage, go to the All Pending Requests screen, highlight the applicable request, then click APPROVE REQUEST to Approve it into a workflow stage or DELETE REQUEST to remove it from the system (deleted requests will not be placed into the Trash Bin). Note that if a request has been previously Locked by the user, you must go to the request's Properties screen and Unlock the request before proceeding.
