This WebSite Director (WSD) Application Desktop displays when you first log on to WSD if Explorer Navigation has been selected for your User Preferences . This initial screen provides access to WSD functions.
The three selection bars - Menu Bar, Tool
Bar and Function Bar - provide access to WSD functions. You may hide or display
any or all of these bars.
Immediately below these bars are the Things I can do and Request Selection columns.
My Desktop - The "Things I can do" column
lists the major WSD categories, and is used to navigate to other WSD screens. Click My Desktop to
close or expand the list. The "Request Selection"
panel lists requests in your My Pending Requests stage. This stage is your private stage
where requests can be submitted and worked on before being submitted into the workflow process. Requests
in this stage may only be viewed by you and the System Administrator. See the Pending Requests tutorial for more
information.
Submit New Request - Click this text to display the directories under
the Web Site Root Directory.The title "Submit Request" moves to the top of the "Things
I can do" panel and the "Document" directories display. To list "Template"
directories, scroll down and click [+] in front of "Templates." The Request
Selection panel displays the files under the directory selected in the "Things I can do" panel.
My Pending Requests - Click this text to refresh
the list in the "Request Selection" panel.
You can work on a pending request, approve it to a workflow stage, or disapprove it to the Trash Bin, as follows:o
View Request - Click to display the content associated with the request in a Browser window.
View Properties - Click to display the Properties screen showing WSD-specific information about the selected request.
Compare with Published - Click to view the current and published views of the selected request in a split browser window. The Windows title displays the location of each of the views. The published version is on the left or bottom window, depending on your method of viewing (Horizontal or Vertical) as set on the User Preferences screen. This function will be available if the request is to Modify existing content.
Edit Request - Displays the Edit Request screen for the selected Document or Template .
Comments - Click to view the Comments associated with the selected request.
Approve Request - Click to display the Approve Request screen for the selected request.
Disapprove Request - Click to display the Disapprove Request screen for the selected request.
Requests in Workflow - Click [+] or
this text to list the workflow stages;
indicates that the workflow stage contains one or more requests. Click the name
of a workflow stage to display the requests in the Request Selection panel. Each
request is identified by the the Request Type (ADD, MODIFY, etc.), and the path and filename
associated with the request.

To work on a request,

System Administration - Click
[+] or this text to list the System Administration options.
Administration Desktop - Click to display the System Administration page where you may access System Administration maintenance functions, including those for Stages, Groups, Templates, and Approval Classes.
System Configuration - Click to display the System Configuration screen where you can configure WSD options such as Temp File Cleanup Age, E-mail Templates, Directory Indexing defaults, and Document Numbers.
Scheduled Processes - Click [+] or this text to list the following scheduled processes: Check Permissions, Cleanup Database, Publish Approved Content, Send Notices & Reminders and Verify Database Integrity. You may immediately start one of these processes by click the process name. A report will display when the process is complete. Also see the Overnight Processes tutorial for more information on each process.
All Pending Requests - Click this text to display the All Pending Requests page which displays the requests awaiting processing in all users' Pending Requests stages.
Trash Bin - Click this text to display the Maintain Trash Bin where you can delete or recover (Approve into the workflow) requests that have been Disapproved into the Trash Bin while in the WSD workflow process.
Publishing Folder - Click this text to access the Publishing Status page where you may review requests that have been approved for publishing, but have not yet been published. If you have permission you may publish or disapprove these requests.
System Policies - Click this text to access the System Policies page where you can set system policies including Maintain Directory Index Files, Default Publish Date, Duplicate First and Last Names Allowed, etc.
Maintain Web Site - Click this text to access the Maintain Web Site page where you can access screens to control WSD user access and maintain Meta data for your site's directories. It provides access to the Directory Properties screen where you can enter Meta data, mark directories as "Private" (including all documents within the directories), select directories to be indexed, and restrict user access to your directories.
SYSTEM REPORTS - Click
this text to display the System Reports
page where you may view and print the six types of reports about WSD activities:
Request Status, User Information, Request Activity, Log Files, Templates and Link Check.
TEMPLATE ADMINISTRATION -
Click [+] or this text to list the Template Administration options.
Administration Desktop - Click this text to display the Maintain Templates page where you select the Template Group (Header, Footer, E-mail, Directory Indexing, Edit Layout or Page Layout) to be maintained, and access the Maintain <template-group> Templates screen for the selected group. If "Modify Templates" has been set to "Submit Request" on the System Policies screen, the only function available from the Maintain <template-group> Templates screen will be "Apply Template."
E-Mail Templates - Click this text to display the Maintain E-Mail Templates screen where you can add, edit, delete and view templates for E-mail Notification Messages.
Edit Layout Templates - Click this text to display the Maintain Edit Layout Templates screen where you can add, edit, delete and view Edit Layout Templates .
Footer Templates - Click this text to display the Maintain Page Footer Templates screen where you can add, edit, delete and view Footer Templates.
Header Templates - Click this text to display the Maintain Page Header Templates screen where you can add, edit, delete and view Header Templates.
Index Templates - Click this text to display the Maintain Index Templates screen where you can add, edit, delete and view Index Templates.
Page Layout Templates - Click this text to display the Maintain Page Layout Templates screen where you can add, edit, delete and view Page Layout Templates.

Click this text to display the User

Click [+] or this text to list the Workflow Administration options.
Approval Classes - Click this text to display the Maintain Approval Classes screen where you can add, edit and delete Approval Classes.
Stages - Click this text to display the Maintain Workflow Stages screen where you can add, edit and delete Workflow Stages.
Groups - Click this text to display the Maintain Groups screen where you can add, edit and delete Groups.
